Josh Peirez

CEO

Josh joined Sterling as co-CEO in July 2018, and was named CEO in April 2019. He brings extensive strategy, product and operational experience to the company, and plays an instrumental role in driving Sterling toward our global vision of making the world a safer place.

Prior to Sterling, Josh served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Dun & Bradstreet, leading all aspects customer-facing operations including the company’s lines of business, multi-channel sales platform, service of client solutions, strategy, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Dun & Bradstreet, Josh spent ten years with MasterCard, most recently in the role of Chief Innovation Officer for MasterCard Worldwide. A lawyer by training, he also served as the company’s Group Executive, Global Public Policy and Associate General Counsel. Before joining MasterCard in 2000, Josh was an associate at Clifford Chance Rogers and Wells focusing on antitrust litigation.

Josh has served on the Federal Reserve Board’s Consumer Advisory Council and the Board of Directors for the Westchester County Association. He was named in the Top 10 Innovators of 2009 ranked by Bank Technology News.

Josh holds a bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis, Economic and Government Studies from Cornell University and a doctor of jurisprudence degree from Brooklyn Law School, where he received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award in Criminal Law and Comparative Constitutional Law.

William Greenblatt

Chairman

Billy founded Sterling in 1975 and has served as its Chairman since 2014. With more than 40 years of experience, Greenblatt is widely considered to be one of the pioneers of the background screening industry. Under his leadership, the company fundamentally transformed the way companies, both large and small, hire and retain the best talent for their organizations. In 2018 he returned to the role of CEO to lead the company through its next phase of growth.

In June of 2006, Billy was honored by Ernst and Young as the Entrepreneur of the Year. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a JD from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.

Richard Seldon

Vice-Chairman

Richard became Vice-chairman of Sterling in 2019. Previously serving as President and Chief Revenue Officer, for the past 16 years Richard has helped build the company’s client list to more than 25,000 companies.

Richard believes in the fundamental importance of building transparent, effective relationships with clients and partners. As chair of the Sterling Customer Advisory Board, he leads of an advisory group that includes some of the world’s largest employers and is focused on addressing pressing questions surrounding background screening. He is a sought-after speaker and commentator on hiring practices, background screening and policy development.

Richard earned a B.A. and M.B.A. in Marketing from Hofstra University.

Lou Paglia

President

Lou is President of Sterling, and initially joined in October 2015 as Chief Innovation Officer. A product, operations and general management executive with significant experience in web, data and technology, prior to Sterling, Lou served as Vice President of Emerging Business at Infogroup. He has held executive roles at multinational companies including MTV Networks and the Factiva division of Dow Jones and Company, as well as at start-ups like Jirafe, SnagAJob.com and About.com. Lou holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University.

Peter Lehmann

Chief Strategy Officer

Peter joined Sterling in April 2019 as Chief Strategy Officer. He brings extensive strategy and corporate development experience with leading companies in financial, information and business services.

Prior to Sterling, Peter spent twelve years with Dun & Bradstreet, most recently in the role of Chief Strategy Officer, where he led corporate strategy, competitive intelligence and mergers & acquisitions globally.

Prior to joining Dun & Bradstreet, Peter held senior leadership positions with Merrill Lynch, Intuit and American Express. He was also part of the founding team of EmployeeMatters, a cloud-based payroll company acquired by Intuit.

Peter began his professional career in strategy consulting with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman), where he was a Principal in the Financial Institutions practice.

Peter earned his bachelor’s degree in Government from Dartmouth College.

Danielle Korins focuses on people, HR and driving great culture, including talent acquisition and development, employee engagement and metric driven People management worldwide. Her goals is to help employees feel connected with their employer and drives programs that encourage purpose and passion across international companies.

Throughout her career she has built positive, innovative cultures across multiple verticals, including technology, banking, medical devices, fashion and media. She has a strong passion achieving business objectives through a strategic lens powered by people and technology. Her previous companies include Yodle, PVH Corp, Dow Jones, Bank of America and Smith & Nephew.

She holds a Bachelor in Business from Isenbreg School of Management, UMass Amherst and an Executive business certificate program from MIT – Sloan School of Management.

Steve Barnett

Executive Vice President & General Counsel

Steve joined Sterling in January 2016 after leading all aspects of legal, compliance, regulatory and government affairs at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. He brings experience in litigation, including class actions and government inquiries, as well as corporate transactional work and corporate governance. Steve has served as General Counsel and other positions for several companies, both public and private. He began his career as a corporate lawyer with Skadden Arps in New York where he specialized in structuring and negotiating corporate transactions, including public and private mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance transactions.

Steve received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York and a B.S in Finance from the State University of NY at Albany.

Elizabeth Fitzell

Managing Director, APAC

Elizabeth has over 12 years’ experience in the screening and verification industry.

She leads the operational aspects of the business on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for the employment screening operations. Prior to joining RISQ, Elizabeth held leadership positions at First Advantage, where she was Client Relations Director and Director of Operations. She is the current Assistant Chairperson of NAPBS APAC and a member of the GRC Institute.

Vikas Vig

Chief Fulfillment Officer

Vikas joined Sterling in 2003 and leads the organization’s efforts to integrate clients, people, platforms and technology across all acquired companies. Prior to his role as EVP of M&A Integrations, Vikas led Sterling Talent Solution’s global operations. He has a successful track record of ensuring delivery of products defect free, on-time and in a compliant and operationally efficient manner through application of Six Sigma principles.

Vikas is a graduate of the Wharton School Of Business’ Advanced Management Program & holds a B.S. in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Mumbai.

Steven Smith

Managing Director, EMEA

Steve is the Managing Director for Sterling EMEA, having originally joined Sterling in 2015 as head of Sales for UK&I. Previously, Steve spent nearly 10 years at REED, the leading recruiting firm in the UK, where he worked closely with senior HR professionals and Talent Acquisition leaders across multiple sectors helping to shape successful hiring programmes. He now leads Sterling’s EMEA region, with strategic and operational responsibility for delivering robust background screening and identity solutions for clients and driving business growth for Sterling. Steve holds a BA from Cardiff University and is a regular speaker at HR and recruitment events across Europe.
